THE SANCTUARY OF SAINT GERARD MAJELLA

The Basilica of Saint Gerard has been rebuilt and expanded on its original site in several stages. After the Canonization of 1904, the flow of pilgrims grew to such an extent that the enlargement of the temple in honor of St. Gerard became the primary urgency.

CHURCH OF MADONNA DELLA SANITA’

Historical notes on the miraculous image of St. Maria della Sanità of Caposele, the town praised by the sculpted words of the poet Dione Afranio: “Silari gurges Spectabile flumen,” is described as a privileged and blessed land, as it enjoys the high protection of St. Maria della Sanità of Caposele. The devotion to the Mother of God dates back to the year 1710.

LITTLE CHURCH OF SAINT VITO

After the destruction of the new Oppido, the land of Pietra Borranea was established on a high and pleasant hill, along with other settlements. It consisted of a castle with an adjoining farmhouse and the church of Santa Maria ad Nives, under the jurisdiction of the Balbano family, feudal lords of Caposele.
