The waters collected from Mount Cervialto (which represents a sufficiently independent hydrogeological basin) flow toward Caposele. It is right here, near Mount Paflagone, that these underground waters feed the Sanit\u00e0 spring (405 m above sea level) in a southeast direction, before being collected in water flows at the Tredogge spring (415 m above sea level), thus giving rise to the flow of the Sele River, which continues to Paestum.
The Apulian Aqueduct begins in Caposele, \u201c…a work which the world does not remember its equal,<\/strong>\u201d which quenches the thirst of the entire Tavoliere delle Puglie with its waters. The average flow of the spring today is about 4000 liters per second. Within the park accessible near Piazza Sanit\u00e0, the aqueduct infrastructure and the first headquarters of the EAAP, one of the first constructions made of reinforced concrete in Italy, are housed.
In the structure that protects the collection systems, there are control chambers with the original sluices dated 1909 that are still operational, but above all, the view of the underground structures that channel the copious and clear waters of the Sele, from the rock in the Pavoncelli tunnel, which here, from the marked zero kilometer, begins its journey until it reaches the municipality of Santa Maria di Leuca.
