The waters collected in Mount Cervialto (which form an independent hydrogeological basin) flow towards Caposele. Right here, near Mount Paflagone, these underground waters feed the Sanità spring (405 meters above sea level) in a southeast direction.
The Basilica of Saint Gerard has been rebuilt and expanded on its original site in several stages. After the Canonization of 1904, the flow of pilgrims grew to such an extent that the enlargement of the temple in honor of St. Gerard became the primary urgency.
